Adolf Freiherr von Wangenheim (born February 8, 1927 in Waake ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From 1975 to 1994 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Life

Adolf von Wangenheim, a member of the von Wangenheim family , attended school in Waake and Göttingen. From 1943 he was used as an air force helper. In February 1944 he was accepted into the NSDAP together with other young people in his town. In the Federal Archives there is a membership card for him with membership number 10.041.589 and the date of application for membership on February 21, 1944. He was also in the Reich Labor Service and was with the Wehrmacht until he was released from British captivity . In 1945 he began training in agriculture and forestry, which he finished in 1949 as an agricultural assistant. Then he attended the higher agricultural school in Witzenhausen , which he finished as a state-certified farmer. From 1950 he managed the agricultural and forestry business in Waake, which he inherited from his father in 1947.

Since 1955 von Wangenheim was a member of the council of the municipality Waake. From 1973 to 1976 he was councilor of the Radolfshausen community , now a member of the CDU . From June 16, 1975 to June 20, 1994 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament in its eighth to twelfth electoral term. From 1986 to 1990 he was chairman of the Budgetary Accounts Audit Subcommittee of the Committee on Budget and Finance and from 1990 to 1994 he was chairman of the Committee on Budget and Finance.

In 1956 he was elected to the Presidium of the Calenberg-Grubenhagen landscape , to which he belonged until 2006. In this capacity, he also became a member of the sponsors' meeting of the Landschaftliche Brandkasse Hannover, the core company of VGH Insurance, from 1956 . In this way he became a member of the supervisory board of the Landschaftliche Brandkasse in 1962 and has also been its chairman since 1967; In 1997 he resigned from this office and the supervisory board and has been its honorary chairman ever since.

As a representative of the Calenberg-Grubenhagen landscape, he was chairman of the Southern Lower Saxony Regional Association from 1994 to 2017 .

In 1998 von Wangenheim received the Great Cross of Merit of the Lower Saxony Order of Merit .
