history
The joint community of Radolfshausen was founded in the spring of 1973. The name derives from the former district of Radolfshausen , whose office building, later the forester's house Radolfshausen, is located in Ebergötzen at the confluence of the Weißwasserbach in the floodplain. It is a baroque half-timbered building from 1711. In the early 14th century, the noble lords of Plesse were wealthy with property in the area of the later Radolfshausen office, so in 1317 they evidently withdrew half a tenth of the Falkenhagen field. After the Lords of Plesse died out in 1571, the office came to the Grubenhagensche line of the Welfenhaus, and in 1577 they sold it to the Landgraviate of Hesse . Towards the end of the 16th century, however, the Landgrave of Hesse could not prevent the office from falling back into the hands of the Welfs, after the Grubenhagen line had expired, to the Duke of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel ; In 1866 the area became part of Prussia . Due to constant changes of ownership, the denominational grouping of the population has also been divided. These differences can still be traced today: Eichsfeld is predominantly Catholic, the former Göttingisch-Grubenhagensche area is Lutheran and the former Hessian exclaves have been reformed.
Settlement of the area dates back to the Middle Ages, which can be seen in the late Romanesque, late Gothic, residential tower from the 13th to 14th centuries. He himself formed the core of the former moated castle, which, including the wall and moat, was located between the Weißwasserbach and the floodplain. The size was approximately 75 by 100 m, the habitable space is estimated at 45 by 60 m. During excavations, a stone ax was also discovered, which is dated to the Neolithic . The first documentary mentions of the municipalities and districts of the integrated municipality are made around 840.
In March 1998 the association "Altes Amt Radolfshausen" was founded, whose goals include protecting the structures on the former site of the state forestry office. Above all, it is important to preserve the historical elements of the cultural landscape, as a historical cellar vault and a carriage shed have been found in addition to the residential tower . Also worthy of protection are the numerous head linden and botanical peculiarities, including a black nut , which, with its trunk thickness of more than one meter, is the thickest black nut in Lower Saxony, Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia .

coat of arms
Blazon:
Split of gold and red over a silver-backed, six-spoke upper-half red wheel growing out of the lower edge of the shield, in confused colors, a red wall anchor in front, a blue-armored golden lion in the back.
Foundation of the coat of arms:
The communities and districts belonging to the former district of Göttingen were members of the Radolfshausen office until the last century. They are represented by the symbols of the wall anchor and the lion, which are borrowed from the Radolfshausen Office's coat of arms, which was used until the middle of the 19th century.
The wheel arranged in the base of the shieldindicates that the communities and districts of Eichsfeld belong to the old Archdiocese of Mainz . The wheel shown growing from the base of the shield, halved and divided by the gap is based on two meanings: On the one hand, the division of the Eichsfeld is to be documented after 1945, on the other hand, the confused colors in the wheel indicate the two municipalities from this area that are part of the integrated municipality down.
The coat of arms was decided on October 15, 1980 by the Samtgemeinderat of the Samtgemeinde Radolfshausen and approved by a decree of the district of Göttingen on February 2. "
