About this picture

Landolfshausen is a municipality in southern Lower Saxony in the joint municipality of Radolfshausen in the district of Göttingen .

geography

Landolfshausen is located on the Suhla , about 18 km east of Göttingen and ten kilometers west of Duderstadt . The neighboring communities are Ebergötzen , Seulingen and Waake .

The districts of Mackenrode , Potzwenden and Falkenhagen belong to Landolfshausen .

history

Landolfshausen is first mentioned in the Traditiones Fuldenses, in which the place is listed under the name Lantolfshausen , as well as in the property lists of the Hildesheim Michaeliskloster and the Reinhausen monastery . The document issued by Bishop Bernward von Hildesheim dates back to 1022 and is now considered a forgery. This document also addresses the village of Svechusen im Leinegau, which was abandoned during the late medieval desert period and was located in the immediate vicinity of what was then Landwardeshusen . Another neighboring desert was the village of Drudewenshusen , which was also abandoned in the late Middle Ages .

During the late Middle Ages, Landolfshausen was part of the Plesse rulership, this emerges from a report which states that the representatives of the Lords of Plesse Gottschalk the Elder and his brother Jan and Gottschalk's son Gottschalk in 1395 gave the Pöhlde monastery half their village to Radeleveshusen with the Zehnten , Vorwerk and all fruit and monetary interest for 56 Göttinger Marks sold. With this amount, the Plessians redeemed their villages Valckenhagen ( Falkenhagen ), Landolfshausen and Radeleveshusen, which were in the meantime owned by Heinrich von Stockhausen . In addition, it is documented that the Lords of Plesse bought the Landolfshausen court along with the desert town of Svechusen. They reclaimed the surrounding land, which had fallen into desolation in places, and lent it as an estate of 124 ½ acres .

Around 1818 Landolfshausen had 526 inhabitants. Later, in the middle of the 19th century, the place belonged to the former Radolfshausen office . Together with the nearby Trudelshäuser Mühle, it formed a community association and had a total of 636 inhabitants who lived in 106 houses.

On January 1, 1973 the municipalities of Falkenhagen, Mackenrode and Potzwenden were incorporated.

coat of arms

Landolfshausen coat of arms
Blazon : “In the red shield there is a curved, overturned, silver (white) tip ( pocket pull )open at the bottom. Inside is a marsh thistle emerging from the base of the shield with a green stem, green leaves and two flowers with red stamens. "
Reasons for the coat of arms: The coat of arms symbolizes the connection to nature and the valley location of the village on the Suhla. To the northwest of the village there is a swamp area where the rare swamp thistle grows.
