The Falkenhagen chapel

Falkenhagen is the second smallest district of the southern Lower Saxony municipality of Landolfshausen in the district of Göttingen . The village has around 150 inhabitants.

On January 1, 1973 Falkenhagen was incorporated into the municipality of Landolfshausen.

Culture and sights

The Falkenhagen chapel has the dimensions of approx. 9 m in length and approx. 5.5 m in width. The exact year of construction is unknown, but the inscription "Meister Hans Stedefelt and Wilhelm Götze 1598" can be read over a window. The sacred building has simple walls with pointed arched windows and a beamed ceiling, the choir was designed in a semicircle. The tower adjoining to the west is equipped with square sound openings.

The very quiet Falkenhagen received the bronze medal in the national competition " Our village should be more beautiful " in 1983 .

On the western outskirts of the village runs the district road 11, which leads to Göttingen and Duderstadt .
