Stony Rapids is a small village ( Village ) in northern Saskatchewan on the south bank of the Fond du Lac River . The village has 360 inhabitants.
In winter, Stony Rapids can be reached by snowmobile , plane or via winter roads that connect the village to Uranium City and Fond-du-Lac . Stony Rapids owns a school, two restaurants and hotels, a hospital, post office and two construction companies (Torson Contracting and Sandstone Development). There are also some fishermen's huts nearby. There are glass ey perch , arctic grayling and trout in the region .
Healthcare
The Athabasca Health Facility is located on the Black Lake Reservation, Saskatchewan, outside of Stony Rapids. It opened in 2003 and is part of the Canadian health organization Athabasca Health Authority .
Demographics
As of the 2011 census, around 243 people lived in Stony Rapids. According to a more recent census from 2016, the number of the population increased by 7.8% to 262 people.
