The Fond du Lac River is a river in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan that is part of the Mackenzie River system .
The river is 277 km long and has a catchment area of 66,800 km² and an average discharge of about 300 m³ / s.
Course of the river
The river has its origin in Wollaston Lake ( 395 m ), which it leaves in Cunning Bay . It flows north to Hatchet Lake ( 393 m ) and on to Waterfound Bay ( 376 m ), where the tributary Waterfound River flows into it from the left. The river continues its course in a northerly direction to Kosdaw Lake , over the Redbank Falls to Otter Lake , the Manitou Falls , the Brink Rapids and the Brassy Rapids before the Hawkrock River joins from the left. The river passes the Hawkrock Rapids and North Rapids and takes in the Perch River from the right. The Fond du Lac River passes the Perch Rapids , meets the tributary Porcupine River flowing to the right , reaches the Burr Falls and finally flows into Black Lake ( 276 m ).
Several tributaries flow to the Fond du Lac River on Black Lake: from the right the Chipman River and Souter River , and from the left the Cree River .
The river leaves the lake on its northwestern side near the settlement Black Lake , later passes the Elizabeth Falls and the Woodcock Rapids , as well as the settlement Stony Rapids , to finally flow into Lake Athabasca .

In the river there are u. a. the following species of fish: walleye , yellow perch , pike , lake trout , Arctic grayling , lake whitefish , American whitefish that Redhorse Catostomus commersonii and Catostomus Catostomus and burbot .
