Storholmen (Sula)

Storholmen is an uninhabited archipelago island in the Heissafjord in Norway and belongs to the municipality of Sula in the Norwegian province of Møre og Romsdal .

It is located near the southern bank of the fjord , north of Langevåg . North of the island, the shipping route leads past the port of Ålesund , which is also nearby . Storholmen is surrounded by other archipelago, making it the largest in the archipelago. Immediately to the north are Brattholmen , Rognholmen and some other archipelago, east Lisjegåsa and Gåsholmen , southeast Flatholmen , Svinholmen and Lisjehatten , southwest Nålaugholmen , Notholmen and Lyktholmen .

The rocky island runs elongated from southwest to northeast over about 750 meters with a maximum width of up to about 180 meters. In its eastern half it rises as a rock over the surroundings. The highest point reaches a height of 23 meters. It is partly overgrown with bushes and smaller trees. In the east there are two bridges on its south side. A simple toilet facility was also built on the eastern part of the island, which was destroyed by vandalism in May 2017 . The island is a popular meeting place for younger people.
