The Schriesheimer head is 529.2  m above sea level. NHN high wooded mountain in the Odenwald . It is located near Wilhelmsfeld in the Rhein-Neckar district of Baden-Württemberg . The Teltschikturm observation tower stands on its summit .

The Schriesheimer Kopf rises in the Neckartal-Odenwald Nature Park and in the Bergstrasse-Odenwald Geo-Nature Park immediately southwest of Wilhelmsfeld , to which it belongs. The mountain is the furthest north-east located summit on a ridge that begins at the 2.7 km west-southwest located White Stone ( 548.1  m ) and leads over the 1 km south-southwest located Dossenheimer Kopf ( 538.9  m ) to the Schriesheimer Kopf. The area of ​​the eponymous municipality Schriesheim is about 7 km west of the mountain on the Bergstrasse .

Natural allocation

The Schriesheimer Kopf belongs in the natural spatial main unit group Odenwald, Spessart and Südrhön (No. 14) and in the main unit Sandstone-Odenwald (144) to the subunit Central Sandstone Ode Forest (144.6). The border of the subunit Eichelberg-Odenwald (145.1), which belongs to the main unit of the Vorderer Odenwald (145), runs over its northern flank .

Telchi tower

On top of the Schriesheimer head was in memory of the German reunification on October 3, 1990 from Mecklenburg originating Linde planted next to the one on this occasion memorial stone was erected.

The 41 m high Teltschikturm stands on the Schriesheimer Kopf, from which there is a very good panoramic view of the Odenwald. The tower was financed by donations on the initiative of Walter Teltschik and built in 2001 based on a design by his cousin Robert Teltschik. It is a covered wooden structure with a steel spiral staircase. Not far from the tower there is a memorial stone in memory of the patron and donor since 2016.

Traffic and walking

About the Schriesheimer head u. a. the European long-distance hiking trail E1 , on the east and west side of the mountain run the state roads  536 and 596 leading south from Wilhelmsfeld .

About 780 m south of the summit of the Schriesheimer Kopf, on the mountain pass of the state road  596 from Wilhelmsfeld to Peterstal, there is the Langer Kirschbaum hikers' car park with a refuge.

Other hiking trails on the Schriesheimer Kopf are:

  • The 90 km long HW34 , a main hiking trail of the Odenwald Club marked with a yellow St. Andrew's cross and running from Ladenburg over the Katzenbuckel to Osterburken , leads east of the car park over the southern slope of the mountain.
  • The Kameralwaldweg W5 (11.1 km), the Holzapfelbaumweg W6 (5.2 km) and the Schriesheimer-Kopf-Weg W7 (2.6 km) run around the mountain .
