Sträumlesfest

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sträublesfest is a historical festival in the Schwäbisch Gmünd district of Hussenhofen . It is connected with the pilgrimage to the chapel on the Beiswang ( Böbingen an der Rems ) and is named after a pastry that is mainly called Strauben in southern Germany .

The first evidence of the feast, which is held on the birth of Mary or in the following week ( octave ), can be found in the Chronica (around 1800) of the Schwäbisch Gmünder chronicler Dominikus Debler , who himself eagerly pilgrimaged the Beiswang and attended the festival . He also passed on a Sträubles recipe and also wrote that the hosts in Hussenhofen did good business with the pilgrims.

In old editions of the “Remstal Boten” you can find invitations to the Hussenhofer Sträublesfest at the beginning of September. The clients were always the two Hussenhofer innkeepers, the Kreuz host and the Gelbhaus host. For example, an advertisement dated September 8, 1851 reads:

“Next Monday, September 8th, that is, on the holiday of the Birth of Mary, the undersigned will hold the traditional Sträublesfest and hereby invite all Sträubles friends with the remark that well-cast dance music will take place at the same time. Signed Funk, host to the 'Yellow House' "

For many decades, the Sträublesfest was held by the Hussenhof restaurateurs. It has been organized by the “Cäcilia” Hussenhofen choral and music association since 1976. It can be considered the local festival of the Hussenhöfer.
