geography

Geographical location

Hussenhofen is located about 4 km east of Schwäbisch Gmünd in the Rems valley on a low, narrow terrace. The historic center is on the right bank of the river. North of the village, the steep slope to the foothills of the Welzheim-Alfdorfer Liasplatten forms the natural settlement boundary . In the north, Hussenhofen borders Herlikofen . The municipality of Iggingen is to the northeast, Böbingen an der Rems to the east and the Schwäbisch Gmünder districts of Bargau and Bettringen to the south . Finally, in the west, the city of Schwäbisch Gmünd borders on Hussenhofen.

history

District rooms

Hussenhofen was first mentioned in a document in 1250 when a citizen of Gmünd sold his farm in " Hvzzenhovin " to the Gotteszell monastery . After the imperial city of Gmünd bought four estates from the legacy of Limpurg in 1557 , the whole place was under Gmünder rule and from then on belonged to the imperial city office of Bettringen . In 1802, Hussenhofen and Gmünd became part of Württemberg and, with rooms, were added to the Böbingen mayor's office. In 1819 the newly formed Herlikofen municipality came into being. Zimmer and Hirschmühle were not incorporated from Oberböbingen to Herlikofen until 1938. On January 1, 1969, Hussenhofen, Zimmer, Hirschmühle and Burgholz were incorporated together with Herlikofen to Schwäbisch Gmünd.

badges and flags

The then Herlikofen district of Hussenhofen did not have its own coat of arms before it was incorporated into Schwäbisch Gmünd.

Even today's district of Hussenhofen does not have an official coat of arms awarded by the Ministry of the Interior. However, on solemn occasions, e.g. B. the appointment of the mayor, a flag with an applied coat of arms for the district. The signet is also shown on the welcome signs. The coat of arms signet shows a striding rooster in natural colors on a golden background. The rooster is a common figure and alludes to the local neck name Rems göckel as a talking coat of arms .

As early as 1947, the innkeeper of the Yellow House in Hussenhofen had a “coat of arms” stamped in brass made by the local artist Emil Oker , which showed a rooster on a mountain. A knight, who alluded to the now outdated idea of a knight Huho or Husso in the Benzfeld district, served as a shield holder . The brass plaque was inscribed with "Hussenhofen municipality". This should signal independence as a community and separation from Herlikofen.

The flag colors are red and white, the city colors of Schwäbisch Gmünd.

The coat of arms signet was designed by Hussenhöfer Hermann Kugler and awarded by the then mayor Gerhard Rembold in 2000 on the occasion of the 750th anniversary of the town. In October 2012, the Hussenhofen local council unanimously rejected the proposal for a change from a freelance artist who wanted to design the logo in a heraldically correct form.

The district ofzimmer belonging to Hussenhofen has its own coat of arms. However, this is not placed on the flag on official occasions.
