Gerhard Rembold

Gerhard Rembold (born April 5, 1944 in Ulm ) is a German politician and university professor .

Life

Rembold studied economics and regional science at the University of Karlsruhe . He then worked as a research assistant at the University's Institute for Economic Policy and Economic Research. In 1973 he received his doctorate with the dissertation An interregional intersectoral growth model based on input-output analysis . From 1986 he was treasurer of the city of Karlsruhe and also lecturer at the Administration and Business Academy in Baden and at the University of Cooperative Education in Mannheim .

Starting for the CDU , Rembold held the office of Lord Mayor of Schwäbisch Gmünd from 1992 to 2001 . His main focus in the office of the mayor included traffic issues in the city center, in particular connected with the implementation of the Gmünder Einhorn tunnel . Economic development was another central focus. This includes the expansion of the Gügling industrial park and the settlement of Polynorm-Grau. One of the major controversies in Rembold's tenure was the dispute over an underground car park between Klösterle and Fuggerei . The underground car park was not built. After the CDU refused to support him, he did not run for any further term.

Rembold returned to Karlsruhe after the end of his term of office.
