The 11.1 kilometer long AntRay light rail line was opened in December 2009 between the north of the city and the city center. The AntRay line has 16 stops, including an underground station at the bus station and a depot at the north end of Fatih. The line runs twice through a tunnel and has the following course: Fatih - Kepezaltı - Ferrokrom - Vakıf Çiftliği - Otogar - Pil Fabrikası - Dokuma - Çallı - Emniyet - Sigorta - Sarampol - Muratpaşa - İsmetpaşa - Doğu Garajı - Burhaneyuettin Onat - Mehaneyuettin.

In 2015, Makyol received the tender from the Ministry of Transport to extend the existing tram line to the airport, to Aksu and to the Expo 2016. The project should be completed within 450 days by December 2016. However, the test runs began with a ceremony on April 23, 2016, around 300 days before the originally planned date. The 15.4 kilometer extension of Meydan to the Expo 2016 leads via a 2.4 kilometer junction to the airport and has 15 stops. The new tram stops are Kışla - Topçular - Demokrasi - Cırnık - Altınova - Yenigöl - Sinan - Yonca Kavşak - (Havalimanı / Airport ) - Pınarlı ANFAŞ - Kurşunlu - Aksu-1 - Aksu-2 - Aksu-3 - EXPO site .

The vehicle fleet consists of 14 CAF 5-module 100% low-floor CAF Urbos trams that were delivered for the opening of the AntRay line in 2009. In August 2015, Eurotem, a joint venture between the South Korean Hyundai Rotem and the Turkish manufacturer Tüvasaş , was awarded the contract to supply 18 new vehicles that were needed to extend the tram line.

Historic tram

A single-track, 4.7 km long historic tram line (or nostalgic tram; Turkish: Nostalji tramvay hattı) was opened in 1999 with former trams from Nuremberg . The tram runs from Museum Antalya along the main boulevard through the city center in Kale Kapısı, Hadrian's Gate , Karaalıoğlu Park and ends on the way to Lara Plajı (beach) in the east. The route is as follows: Müze - Barbaros - Meslek Lisesi - Selekler - Cumhuriyet Meydanı - Kale Kapısı - Üç Kapılar - Büyükşehir Belediyesi - Işıklar - Zerdalilik.

There are only two trams with trailers (out of three) from MAN and Duewag vehicles from the 1950s and 1960s. The historic tram line and the new light rail line run through the same intersection in the city center, but do not meet and there is no connection between the two lines.

Expansion planning

The plans for the construction of a third tram line are currently in progress. The new line starts in Varsak and stops u. a. at the bus station (Otogar) - University Hospital - Research Hospital and Museum Antalya. The line will be connected to the historic tram line, which will be expanded to two tracks. The entire line will be 23 km long with the nostalgic part.
