Strandhusen is a district of the city of Heiligenhafen in the Ostholstein district in Schleswig-Holstein .

Strandhusen is located directly on the Baltic Sea on Fehmarnsund , about two kilometers east of Heiligenhafen across from the Graswarder peninsula .
history
Strandhusen is a former fishing village. It became important as the location of the beacon for the port of Heiligenhafen. The first beacon was a ship's lantern attached to a fisherman's house in 1885. On January 15, 1907, the first lighthouse, a circular building twelve meters high, was put into operation. This was replaced in 1938 by the 19-meter-high, square Heiligenhafen lighthouse , which still exists today and shapes the townscape.
