The Streesee is a natural body of water in the area of the city of Biesenthal in the Brandenburg district of Barnim . It is located about one kilometer southeast of the city center on Landesstraße 294, Berliner Chaussee, and close to Landesstraße 200, the former Bundesstraße 2 , which runs to the east .
The Streesee is part of the Biesenthal Basin nature reserve, which was designated in 1999, and is located on its northeastern edge. Its name goes back to the Slavic word stresow for "bay". During the Weichselian lake formed has an area of 12 hectares and is surrounded by swelling and silting bogs and Kameshügeln surrounded. To the west of the lake there is an open meadow landscape, to the east of it bushes and alder trees grow .
Water is supplied to the lake by spring tributaries in the south and east. Its outflow on the west side, the Pfauenfließ , which in a document from 1567 was still referred to as Stresow'sches Fließ , flows east of the Regesesees into Finow, 1.5 kilometers away . A legend about the Streesee tells of a submerged village called Stresow , which was located on the site of the lake.
