Streetfighter was an English rock and new wave of British heavy metal band from Burnley , formed in 1977 and disbanded in 1983.

history

The band's origins date back to 1977 when guitarists John Sykes and Dave Westrop began playing together. They then decided to found a band, before bassist Merv Goldsworthy joined them within a few months. The line-up was later joined by drummer Gary Taylor and singer Lee Fenton. In the next few years the band held its first appearances. In 1980 she was on the sampler New Electric Warriors from Logo Records with the song She's No Angel . Thereafter, Sykes left the cast that fall to join Tygers of Pan Tang . Dave Senczak came as a replacement. Next to him was Mick Kremoustoulis as guitarist in the band. In 1982 the self-financed EP Crazy Dream was released , which contains four songs and which was often advertised with the fact that Sykes can be heard on it, which was no longer the case. However, the EP sold poorly, after which it was dissolved in 1983. Most of the members then devoted themselves to other musical projects.

style

According to Malc Macmillan in The NWOBHM Encyclopedia , She's No Angel from New Electric Warriors is comparable to music from Driveshaft and early Dealers , while the electric guitars have similarities to Thin Lizzy . The theme song and City Girls of Crazy Dream are boogie- influenced rock in the style of more aggressive Masai and Vardis . Livin 'on the Red Line has similarities to songs by Snakebite , while Streetfighter is more similar to the works of Energy .
