String music Edelweiss

The string music Edelweiss is a folk music formation from Herisau in the Swiss canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden . It was founded in Trogen in 1913 by Hans Rechsteiner . Her usual musical instruments are the accordion , piano , bass violin , violin and dulcimer .

Today the main line-up consists of the dulcimer player and conductor Albert Düsel, the violin players Jakob and Stefan Düsel, the accordionist and double bass player Christian Düsel, the cellist, pianist and accordionist Karl Fuchs, the double bass player Andreas Düsel and the cellist Hans Hürlemann. Their music is the traditional Appenzell style and partly a synthesis with the concert style Central Switzerland, where piano accompaniment is common. Musicians who have died in the meantime also went down in the history of the band, which has existed for generations. Among them were the bass violinist Emil Fürstenauer (* 1891, † 1975), the dulcimer player Hans Rechsteiner (* 1893, † 1986), the violin player Emil Walser (* 1909, † 1972) and the cellist Jakob Alder (* 1915, † 2004) .
