Strings , French title Cordes , is a 1991 Canadian animated short film directed by Wendy Tilby .

action

A woman and a man use the elevator together. While the man gets out on the second floor, the woman drives up to the third floor. The apartments of the two are exactly one above the other. The woman has bought a fourth chimney for her model ship of the Titanic and is gluing it on. Then she takes a full bath. The man prepares dinner and a short time later receives some musicians with their string instruments. They make music together.

Suddenly the man notices that water is dripping through the ceiling. The pipes in the woman's bathroom are leaking, so he goes up one floor and begins to repair the pipes. Meanwhile, the chandelier falls from the ceiling in his apartment.

Man and woman separate again. The man lost a cufflink while working in her bathroom, which the woman picks up and places in one of her shoes. The musicians go home, the man now plays his instrument alone and the woman takes another bath.

production

Strings was created using paint on glass and stop-action animation. It was the first film Tilby made for the NFB.
