The Strong Europe Tank Challenge (abbreviation: SETC) is an annual, multinational tank competition that has been taking place at the Grafenwöhr training site in Bavaria since 2016 and is organized by the US Army Europe and the German Armed Forces . The tank crews compete in defensive and offensive operations. 12 individual disciplines with a total of 1,500 points are completed. Similar events are the Tank Biathlon , which has been held annually in Russia since 2013, and the Canadian Army Trophy, which was discontinued in 1991 .

Competition mode

The competition is divided into various disciplines for all participants, which depict a "close-to-combat" exercise scenario for tank battles. In addition to disciplines in which shooting with tanks is the focus, the physical and mental capabilities of the teams are also used for evaluation. The competition lasts 5 days.

Placements

At the first SETC in 2016, Germany took first place. In 2017 Austria took first place, Germany second and the USA third. In 2018, Germany again took first place ahead of Sweden and Austria, with all three competing with Leopard-2 tanks .
