Stuart Parnaby (born July 19, 1982 in Durham ) is an English football player . The defender has played for Hartlepool United since the 2014-15 season .

Career

Parnaby went through the Middlesbrough FC Academy run by his father Dave Parnaby and signed his first professional contract in 2000. He made his competitive debut in September 2000 in a league cup game against Macclesfield Town. At the end of October he was awarded to Halifax Town for two months in the fourth class Third Division and was so convincing during his six missions that he was named Division Three's Player of the Month . He missed the 2001/02 season completely due to injuries, but was then able to play his way back into the squad. In August 2003 he was incapacitated for four months due to a knee injury and had problems reconnecting afterwards. Only towards the end of the season he was able to move up into the regular formation, but was not considered in the league cup final against the Bolton Wanderers.

In October 2004 he broke his leg during training and was again absent for several months. It was not until the 2005/06 season that Parnaby was able to play injury-free and reached the final of the UEFA Cup with the club , in which, however, they had no chance against Sevilla FC and lost 4-0. He started the 2006/07 season as a regular, but was ousted by Andrew Davies and Abel Xavier .

On July 1, 2007 he moved to league rivals Birmingham City on a free transfer , where he signed a contract until 2010. In Birmingham he played until 2012 and then returned to Middlesbrough until 2014. From 2014 he was part of the Hartlepool United team .
