The Studentendorf is a student residence in Darmstadt .
Architecture and history
The student village was built in 1959 according to plans by the architect Jan Hubert Pinand .
It is one of the last works of the Darmstadt planner Pinand, who planned numerous expressionistic buildings in Darmstadt, especially between the two world wars .
The student village in Darmstadt represents architecture typical of the time.
The two-storey apartment blocks have a facade of bricks and red-roofed hipped roofs . The covered walkways with extremely thin concrete roofs are among the most interesting details . Also noteworthy is the ceramic - mosaic at the entrance of the student village of Bruno Müller-Linow and sour.
Monument protection
The student village was placed under monument protection as a typical example of 1950s architecture in Darmstadt .
