The Studentenwerk Hannover is a student union based in Hannover , which was founded in 1921. As a cross-university social service provider, it is responsible for around 40,000 students at universities in the city and region of Hanover and beyond. The task of the student union is the economic, social, health and cultural promotion of the students.

structure

The managing director is Eberhard Hoffmann. The organization is divided into the six departments of university catering and central purchasing, student housing, educational support, social and international affairs, finance, construction and information technology as well as law and personnel. The Hannover Student Union employs around 320 people.

The Studentenwerk is financed 60 percent from income and proceeds from sales in canteens and cafeterias, rents and the like, 20 percent from student fees, 12 percent from grants from the state of Lower Saxony for ongoing operations (state financial aid) and eight percent from the reimbursement of expenses of the state for the Bafög administration (flat rate case costs).
