The Boeselburg named after the noble family Boeselager (also student residence Boeselagerstraße ) is a student housing estate , consisting of four houses in the Boeselagerstraße 69-75 in Münster in North Rhine-Westphalia . With 18,000 m² of living space, it is the largest passive house development in Europe.

history

The predecessor of today's Boeselburg was the old Boeselburg, which was built in 1972 and housed 720 students. Since the apartments were no longer tailored 40 years later and the energy parameters were no longer up to date, the city of Münster decided to demolish the building. A renovation would have cost a double-digit million amount, as the building site was also contaminated with pollutants. The demolition alone cost 950,000 euros, the disposal of the polluted building material another million.
In 2009, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia launched a building competition that the Kresings architectural office in Münster was able to win. Construction was completed in May 2014 and the building was inaugurated on June 26, 2014. The client was the Münster Student Union .

Description and equipment

The living space of the settlement is 18,000 m², which has space for a total of 535 residents. The four polygonal houses are constructed identically and differ in their striking colors (red, green, yellow and blue). The one-, two- and three-room apartments are between 25 and 180 m² in size, and there are group apartments similar to shared flats, each with five apartments attached.
In the middle of the residential buildings there is an inner courtyard, in the south-east of the complex there is a parking lot and a daycare center and a laundrette are distributed over the area.
