Sgraffito on the student residence at Zellescher Weg 41c

In the 1990s, the neglected maintenance of the buildings for years became so evident that in 1997 the first renovation and modernization measures were initiated. They were carried out by the Ulf Zimmermann architectural association . Houses 41, 41a and 41b were renovated from 1997 to 1999 and today have a total of 164 single rooms and 34 single apartments. During the renovation, additional rooms were obtained by extending the attic, among other things. Houses 41c and 41d together have 105 single rooms for students. All buildings have elaborate sgraffiti on the gables with scenes from student and researcher life. In 2010 the house 41d was completely renovated and in the course of its single apartments and 2-person shared apartments were set up. The renovation work on 41c was also completed in summer 2011.
