Operation Eastern Condors (original title: Dung fong tuk ying) is a 1987 action film from Hong Kong . The main role in the film is played by Sammo Hung , who also directed it at the same time.

action

The American Lt. Col. Lam is assigned a secret mission by his superiors. He is supposed to penetrate Vietnam and destroy an old American missile bunker before the Viet Cong gets their hands on weapons. To this end, Lam is recruiting inmates from the prisons in Saigon , which are supposed to be run by Tung Ming-Sung. Each survivor is rewarded with a pardon, US citizenship and $ 200,000.

After entering hostile territory, they meet three Cambodian rebels who are supposed to support Ming-Sung's troops. After a few skirmishes with the Viet Congs, the troops are captured and tortured in a prisoner-of-war camp . After their escape from the camp, the soldiers find out that one of the Cambodian rebels is a traitor and that the Viet Cong is already on the troops' heels.

With the Viet Cong behind their necks, the troops finally reach the rocket bunker, a short time later the enemy arrives and a hard battle breaks out. Ming-Sung and his men not only have to fight against the Viet Cong, but also against the Cambodian women who want to win the missiles for their rebel movement.

Finally, Ming-Sung and his remaining men manage to defeat their opponents and destroy the bunker.

Awards

The film was nominated for three Hong Kong Film Awards in 1988 : For Best Action Choreography, Best Young Actor for Ha Chi Chun and Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Joyce Godenzi.

Trivia

  • The film was shot in the Philippines and Canada .
  • Sammo Hung lost 30 pounds for the film in three months because he found his usual stature unsuitable for the role of a soldier.
