The Studiengemeinschaft Darmstadt (SGD) is a German distance learning school and part of the Klett Group . With over 900,000 participants to date, it is one of the largest providers of adult education in Germany. It was founded in 1948 and has been based in Darmstadt since 2019 .

The private Wilhelm Büchner University of Applied Sciences is located at the same location . All SGD offers are state-approved by the State Central Office for Distance Learning (ZFU); Furthermore, the SGD is a member of the German Institute for Standardization (DIN) and the industry association Forum Distance Learning .

In 1948 Werner Kamprath founded the company in Darmstadt . At the beginning, distance learning courses were mainly offered in the field of technology and business administration as well as school leaving certificates .

More than 60,000 participants are currently taking part in more than 200 courses in the areas of school leaving qualifications , languages , economics , technology , IT and digital media , general education , creativity , personality and health .

In 1997 it was taken over by the Klett group of companies in Stuttgart . With the establishment of a seminar center in 2008, the SGD and its sister company, the Wilhelm Büchner University , had over 8,000 m² of office and seminar space at their Pfungstadt location . Both companies have been based in Darmstadt since December 2019.

Correspondence courses

The written study material is the basis of the distance learning course at SGD. Depending on the course, the written study material is combined with media such as CD learning programs, software, screen cam movies, podcasts and the SGD online campus. Some of the SGD courses are supplemented by seminars so that knowledge can be deepened there.

Around half of all courses prepare for external degrees:

  • State and public law qualifications: These include school qualifications, IHK qualifications, state technician and business management examinations, examination by TÜV Rheinland as well as the examination "Psychotherapy HP" (medical examination in the field of psychotherapy according to the Heilpraktikergesetz).
  • Degrees from cooperation partners, institutions and academies, e.g. B. SAP certificates, Cambridge Certificate, diploma from the University of Salamanca, bSb diploma (Federal Association for Secretariat and Office Management), diploma "Direktmarketingfachwirt / in DDA" ( German Direct Marketing Academy )

In addition to preparing for state-recognized school-leaving qualifications, courses on business, school-leaving qualifications, personality and health, technology, IT, creative professions and hobbies, languages ​​and general education are offered.

Certifications

All SGD courses are checked and approved by the State Central Office for Distance Learning in Cologne according to the Distance Learning Protection Act. In addition, the sgd was certified according to ISO 9001 and ISO 29990 . Furthermore, the sgd is entitled to accept education vouchers according to AZAV . In January 2017, the sgd underwent a voluntary test by TÜV Süd and was awarded the test mark for tested service quality.
