The Studienseminar Cuxhaven is a training facility for teachers at primary, secondary and secondary schools in Cuxhaven .
history
On November 1, 2001, the Cuxhaven study seminar was opened for teaching at primary, secondary and secondary schools. Up until the 1980s there was already a training seminar in the Elbe-Weser region . An important reason for the decision to set up another study seminar was the finding that it was not possible to attract enough young teachers for the region over a long period of time. Since many former applicants are now working as teachers in the city and district of Cuxhaven , the concept is viewed as successful.
Location
The seminar building is located in the city of Cuxhaven in the city center and near the train station. A former branch of the Landeszentralbank was converted and renovated and now provides modern and well-equipped seminar and administrative rooms as well as a seminar library on three floors. The proximity to the sea with the harbor and beach offers a high recreational value.
The more than 70 training schools are spread across the entire district of Cuxhaven and even beyond. This sprawling distribution offers a wide variety of schools, but in most cases requires a car.
Training and organization
The teacher training in Germany is organized in two phases. The first part of this training takes place at universities all over Germany. For the second phase, the prospective teachers apply in the various federal states, which the trainee teachers then distribute to the study seminars. This preparatory service lasts 18 months and ends with the second state examination. The training structure is currently changing. In future, trainee teachers will be hired on February 1st and August 1st of each year.
The study seminar in Cuxhaven enables the prospective students to train in the subjects of work / economics, biology, chemistry, German, English, Ev. Religion, French, History, Art, Math, Music, Physics, Science, Sports and Crafts. The additional Low German qualification has been available since 2007 . In addition to attending ten seminars, a unit in Low German must be held and an oral examination must be taken.
