The Stuhrgraben is a left tributary of the Ochtum in the municipality of Stuhr in the district of Diepholz .

The originally natural flowing water has been straightened for long stretches and is now shaped like a ditch. As "stubborn" it was once eponymous for the place name Stuhr. The street name "An der Sture" in Stuhr-Brinkum still reminds us of the earlier waterway name, while the street name "Am Stuhrgraben" based on the current name is also in the same district.

The Stuhr itself is likely to have given its name to the Stioringo forest mentioned in a document from 991 .

Location and course

The catchment area of the Stuhrgraben lies between the Hombach and Klosterbach streams, which also flow into the Ochtum .

The ditch begins in Stuhr-Fahrenhorst and runs to the east-northeast and northeast. In the district of Seckenhausen it picks up the gutter from the right , shortly afterwards the Blockener watercourse flows into it from the left at Silbersee . At the edge of the Brinkum district , it takes the Große Rönnecken from the right . At the northern tip of the district it finally flows into the Ochtum after almost 12 km.
