Stunt scooter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The stunt scooter is a compact and highly resilient form of the scooter . It is used as a piece of sports equipment in skate parks .

An organized form of competition and the resulting regulations have been in place since 2010. It is an art sport , similar to artificial cycling , BMX , inline skating or skateboarding , which is mainly practiced by young people.

Structure and technology

The stunt scooter arose from the scooter, i.e. a kick scooter with a folding joint. The folding joint has been removed and the geometry has been adapted for use in sports. The wheels used have a diameter of 100, 110, 115, 120 or 125 mm. The impellers ( English Wheels ) are made of plastic, whose rims of plastic, aluminum or titanium is manufactured. Plastic wheels are often used for entry-level models, but when used for tricks they wear out extremely quickly and break through quickly due to the impacts, especially with lateral loads. Inline skate ball bearings are usually used (dimensions d = 8 mm, D = 22 mm, B = 7 mm). A distinction is made between the qualities of ease of movement - depending on the bearing play and manufacturing accuracy - and sealing against dirt. Here the use of branded bearings leads to a strong link between brand image and price. Industrial ball bearings with double RS seals are the best of all alternatives because they are much cheaper to buy. The forks ( English Forks ) are made of aluminum or steel. Tax rates with technology and dimensions from the cycling sector are used throughout . The decks contain the tread, the steering head bearing and the rear wheel mount. Steel and aluminum are used as materials.

The grip tape, a surface made of sandpaper, is important for good stability on the scooter. The grip tape is therefore a wear and tear item when performing many tricks. A friction plate brake on the rear wheel acts as a brake on a stunt scooter. The braking effect is good, but not durable. Heavy braking often creates a brake disc or a melt- through of the rear wheel.

Disciplines and Techniques

Freestyle

  • Vert : It is ridden in a halfpipe known from skateboarding .
  • Flatland : Here combinations of tricks are practiced and shown on the flat surface.
  • Street : In the Street discipline, tricks are used on everything that can be found on streets and sidewalks in urban areas (e.g. stairs, railings, house walls and obstacles).
  • Park : You drive on a delimited area on which ramps, jumps and other obstacles have been built. The order in which obstacles are used is not specified. The park is the organized form of street driving.
  • Miniramp : The ride is in a halfpipe-like construction, which is smaller (approx. 1.5-3 m high)

Tricks

  • X-up : Turn the handlebars in flight by 180 ° without letting go - the arms form an X.
  • X-ride : turn the handlebars by 180 ° and continue driving - the arms form an X.
  • Barspin : Let go of the handlebar (bar) and turn it (by 360 °). Also works with a guide with your hands.
  • Oppo Barspin : See Barspin, only you turn it in the opposite direction.
  • Barspin Rewind : The bar is moved 270 ° with one hand and then moved in the other direction with the other hand.
  • Tabletop or invert : the scooter is "put on its side" in the air. At the beginning of the 80s there was also the historical name pancake , which nobody uses today.
  • 180 ° (One - Eighty) : Rotation in the air by 180 ° around its own axis followed by reversing (fakie).
  • 360 ° (Three - Sixty) : Rotation in the air by 360 ° around its own axis.
  • 540 ° (Five - Fourty) : Rotation in the air by 540 ° around its own axis, followed by reversing (fakie). Rotations by 720 °, 900 °, 1080 °, 1260 ° and 1440 ° have already been carried out.
  • Nofoot : When jumping, both feet are taken off the deck.
  • Nohand : Take both hands off the handlebars when jumping.
  • Tuck-Nohand : As you jump, drop the handlebars on your hips and point your hands outwards.
  • Suicide : Nohand in which you lean back as far as possible and clap your hands together behind your back if possible.
  • Cashroll : A twist in the air that resembles a double flair. First there is a half turn followed by a backflip. After the backflip, another half turn is added. First shown by Brett "Maddog" Banasiewicz.
  • Backflip : backflip .
  • Front flip : forward flip .
  • Flair : Backflip with a 180 °.
  • Tailwhip : The rear part of the scooter (deck) is turned around once around the front part including the driver. The feet leave the deck.
  • Tailwhip-Rewind : The deck is rotated 270 ° in the air and then turned back with one foot.
  • Tailwhip-Kickless-Rewind : The deck is turned 270 ° in the air and then turned back by moving the bar slightly to the side. In contrast to the tailwhip rewind, this trick is performed without the foot.
  • Finger whip : You bring the scooter upstairs and turn the deck with your fingers.
  • One-Foot-Whip : In principle like the normal tailwhip, only that you drive the deck with only one foot and only land with one.
  • Decade : You turn around the steering tube with your body and handlebars while the deck stays on track. Like the Tailwhip, the Decade is a flatland trick that was later transferred to Rampe or Street.
  • Tiregrab : You jump out relatively steeply and touch the front tire with one hand.

There are also “lip tricks” d. That is, they are carried out on the edges (copings) of ramps. These include u. a. most grinds (excluding jumpover grinds) and for example:

  • Tailtap : The driver jumps at a 90 ° angle onto the ramp platform and lands on the rear wheel, in order to "dive" into the ramp with a 90 ° turn
  • 540 ° tailtap : rotation of the tailtap by 540 °
  • Nosepick : see tailtap, only on the front wheel
  • Nosepick Tailwhip : A tailwhip during a nose pick
  • Footjam Tailwhip : The rear foot is clamped between the fork and the tire, creating a kind of stoppie during the stoppie the tailwhip is performed
  • Bunny Hop : Is when you first jump off the ground with the front wheel, then with the rear wheel and are in the air with both wheels
  • Wallride : You jump against the wall with both wheels and ideally drive on the wall for several seconds
  • Hip Transfer : Jump over one corner of a ramp and “dive” into another.
  • Candy Bar : You stretch your foot between your arms over the handlebars.
  • Can Can : You stretch one foot over the frame and kick it in the air.
  • Air : You jump over the coping with both wheels and then do a 180 ° in the air.
  • One Foot : You put one foot away from the deck.
  • Peg Grab : You touch the front peg with your hand.
  • Grinds : These are the tricks that can be performed on the edges of walls, railings or other slippery hard edges. For this purpose, the immovable pedals / tube stubs located on the front and / or rear wheel are attached to the edges and slid along.
  • Briflip : You turn the handlebar 90 degrees and let the scooter fling it in the air above you.
  • Scooter Flip : You swing the scooter over you, similar to a front bri, let go of the bar with one arm and then catch the scooter again.
  • Buttercup : A briflip with three tailwhips while swinging over your head
  • Rotorwhip : A tailwhip at the same time with a barspin in the opposite direction.
  • Fullwhip : A tailwhip at the same time as an Oppo barspin, so that the scooter turns once around the axis.
  • MC-Whip : You do a no-foot, then stretch your legs apart and reach through your legs with your arm (which you also do a fingerwhip with) and do a fingerwhip.
  • Half-Cab : A 180 ° turn from a fakie.
  • Full-Cab : 360 ° rotation from a fakie.
  • Heelwhip : A tailwhip in the other direction.
  • Umbrella : You do a 90 ° tailwhip and then a briflip and then pull the deck over your head and catch it again.
  • Nothing Frontscoot : A scooter flip where you let go of both hands.
  • Inward : You turn the handlebars 90 ° outwards and then let the scooter fly over you from behind and catch it again at the front.
  • Footplant : With this trick you jump out of a quarter and land on a wall just behind it with your foot and then jump back down.
  • Walltap : See footplant, only that you don't do this with your foot, but with both wheels of the scooter.
  • Handplant : See footplant, only by hand.
