The Stuttgart Golf Club Solitude eV in Mönsheim im Enzkreis is one of the oldest German golf clubs. The German Open and German Masters have been held several times on his golf course . The men's team plays in the 1st Bundesliga of the German Golf League .

The club's golf course was designed by Bernhard von Limburger and is located approximately 25 kilometers northwest of Stuttgart in the Heckengäu . It is characterized by an old stock of trees in a hilly and very quiet area. The relatively small and fast greens are often raised and are therefore difficult to play.

history

The Stuttgart Golf Club Solitude was founded in 1927. In the same year, the construction of a 9-hole course on the Leonberger Heide not far from Solitude Castle began. This was made by Colt, Alison & Morrison Ltd. under whose conception the golf course of the Hamburg Golf Club Falkenstein was created. Robert Bosch was president of the club from 1929 until his death in 1942 . The game on the original course was stopped as a result of the Second World War in 1943 and corn was grown on the golf course. After the end of the war, the American armed forces restored the golf course.

In 1956, the Americans moved to the now newly built Stuttgart Golf Course in Kornwestheim , which is now also used by the Neckartal Golf Club. The 18-hole golf course in Mönsheim, used today by the Stuttgart Golf Club Solitude, was put into operation in 1969 and subjected to an extensive redesign between 2005 and 2007 under the concept of Thomas Himmel. The golf course was fully adapted to today's requirements. Among other things, the greens were enlarged and partially repositioned.
