The SESB was software developed for scientific Bible study based on the technology of Logos Bible Software . Above all, it contained scientific editions of the Hebrew Bible ( Tanakh ) and the Greek New Testament in the original language at the time . These are the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia for the Old Testament and the critical edition of the Göttingen Septuagint company for the Septuagint , and the Novum Testamentum Graece for the New Testament, each with its text-critical apparatus .

With the software one could examine the cited Urtext editions morphologically and according to lemmas . The “Quest” module was developed for the Hebrew Bible in collaboration with the Free University of Amsterdam .

Numerous Bible translations were also available. Aids included dictionaries of the biblical languages in various modern languages, as well as biblical lexicons and data collections tailored to the needs of biblical scholars. It was also possible to link your own notes to any text passages or to create lists of verses, passages and words. The software package was based on the Libronix digital library (today continued as Logos Bible Software), the products of which could be integrated in a modular way.

successor

Version 3 ends the history of the Stuttgart electronic study bible. The SESB 3.0 was based on Libronix 3.0 and appeared in 2009. This software version was only fully supported up to Windows Vista. Since the SESB was already compatible with Logos Bible software , some components of the SESB are now offered there.

Most SESB works can still be used for free in logos on Windows , Mac OS , Android and iOS . Existing users can use their account (which works like a Logos user account ) in the current Logos version 8 with a German user interface.
