Stvořidla
Stvořidla is a whitewater section of the Sázava near Ledeč nad Sázavou in the Czech Republic . The length of the rapids is about 4.5 kilometers, the degree of difficulty is between WW II and WW IV, depending on the flow rate. The whole area is part of the Stvořidla nature reserve with an extension of 246.39 hectares.
Geography and geology
The white water section of the Sázava is located on the edge of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands between the towns of Světlá nad Sázavou and Ledeč nad Sázavou . The right bank of the river is in the cadastral area of Leštinka (part of the town of Světlá nad Sázavou), the left bank belongs to the cadastral area of Dobrovítova Lhota (part of the municipality Trpišovice ). The river makes its way through the granite massif Melechov. The river bed is deeply cut and V-shaped, with many natural steps and boulders.
fauna and Flora
The surrounding area consists of spruce or mixed forests and has a similar vegetation to the neighboring Saar mountains . On rarer plants, for example, small periwinkle , broad-leaved stendellum , small valerian , club moss , tower herb , common devil's bite , rust-leaved alpine rose , white butterbur , red carnation , forest yellow star , high cowslip , medium lark spur and hollow lark spur grow . The animals that live here include otters , fire salamanders and the kingfisher .

The Stvořidla river section is a destination for hikers and water sports enthusiasts . On the left bank there is a red marked hiking trail, not far from there is an educational trail dedicated to the work of Jaroslav Foglar . There is a campsite in the village of Stvořidla.
Stvořidla is one of the most popular whitewater trails on Czech rivers. The degree of difficulty is at the limit of the navigability for open boats, in high water it is very dangerous to use open canoes . Closed kayaks or inflatable boats intended for whitewater are suitable . The first rapids can be found behind the weir in Smrčná at river kilometer 139.40. Behind the bend in the river at river km 137.7 begins a section with difficulty level II, at km 137.2 the most difficult section with level III, at high tide up to WW IV. The white water ends with one level at the Stvořidla campsite at river km 135.20 .
