Suðurfjarðavegur
Suðurfjarðavegur was a road in the region Austurland in Iceland which are sold through the southern part of the East Fjords leads. In November 2017, its entire length was rededicated as the Ringstrasse .
Before that, the route led from Reyðarfjörður through the Fáskrúðsfjarðargöng tunnel to Fáskrúðsfjörður , then around Stöðvarfjörður and met the ring road at Breiðdalsvík . Before the Fáskrúðsfjarðargöng were completed in 2005, the Suðurfjarðavegur ran along the coast around the headland of Vattarnes. This path is now the Vattarnesvegur and mostly paved.
This route is 63 kilometers long and paved the whole way, unlike Skriðdals- og Breiðdalsvegur , which it replaces in this part of the country. The section of the Hringvegur that will be replaced by the new route is now called Skriðdals- og Breiðdalsvegur and is not yet completely paved.
