Su Crastu Covaccadu

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The dolmen Su Crastu Covaccadu is located on the plain of Paule S'iscudu near Torralba in the province of Sassari in Sardinia . The area is rich in archaeological remains. Only 100 meters south is the more disturbed giant grave Sa Pedra Covaccada.

Dolmen Su Crastu Covaccadu

Su Crastu Covaccadu stands on a ledge made of basalt rock . Material for the construction of a dry stone wall was recently removed. Nevertheless, the dolmen is in relatively good condition because parts of the walls and the monolithic ceiling slab have remained. The side walls are built from large blocks at the bottom and smaller stones at the top. But it is uncertain whether the original walls are everywhere. The surface of the plate is decorated with symbols or animal figures and with ritual channels for liquids or libations.

Nearby is the Prunaiola dolmen
