Sud FM

Sud FM was a privately operated radio broadcaster in the West African state of Gambia . It was founded in 1997 as a branch of the Senegalese broadcaster Dakar Sud FM under the direction of Pape Djomaye Thiare in Banjul . Sud FM broadcast its program in English , French and Wolof .

Omar Barrow, a journalist for the broadcaster, was killed on April 10, 2000 during student unrest. On October 22, 2005, the station was closed by the police during Gambian-Senegalese differences. Three days later, on 25 October, the Ministry of Communications (confirmed Communication, Information and Technology ) under the leadership of Neneh MacDouall-Gaye of the license to operate the revocation of a transmitter for the Sud Communications Company Ltd . After 20 months of inactivity, the branch was closed.
