The Sudeten bladder fern ( Cystopteris sudetica ) is a representative of the ciliate fern family (Woodsiaceae) that also occurs in Central Europe .

features

The Sudeten bladder fern reaches heights of 20 to 40 centimeters. It has a long, creeping rhizome , so the fronds are separated from each other. The fronds are double to fourfold pinnate. The leaf blade is shorter than the petiole and broadly ovate in shape. The rachis is bald. The veil is tightly glandular. The chaff scales usually have no glands. The spores ripen in July and August.

The chromosome number is 2n = 168.

distribution

The Sudeten Bubble Fern thrives in Europe, western and eastern Russia, Japan and China in the provinces of Hebei, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Nei Mongol, Shanxi, Xizang and Yunnan.

The Sudeten bladder fern grows in moist mountain forests, on limestone rocks and on limestone rubble. In Germany it occurs only in Bavaria near Berchtesgaden , in Austria it is absent. In Germany it is considered extremely rare and in Bavaria as threatened with extinction. There are other deposits in the Czech Republic and in the area of ​​former Silesia.
