The Sugarman Three

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sugarman Three is a soul band founded in 1996 by Neal Sugarman in New York .

The raw instrumental sound dominated by the Hammond organ is reminiscent of the mod culture of the early 1960s.

In 2001, band leader Neal Sugarman founded the Daptone Records label together with Gabriel Roth . Daptone operates an analog recording studio in New Brunswick (New York). The label's main band, the Dap-Kings, also took part in the recordings for singer Amy Winehouse's album Back to Black .

For the album Pure Cane Sugar, conga, trumpet and vocals were added to the regular cast.
