Sugimura Haruko
Sugimura Haruko ( Japanese 杉 村 春 子 , real name: Ishiyama Haruko ( 石山 春 子 ); * January 6, 1909 in Hiroshima , Hiroshima Prefecture as Nakano Haruko ( 中 野 春 子 ); † April 4, 1997 in Bunkyō , Tokyo Prefecture ) was a Japanese actress .
Live and act
Sugimura began her career in 1927 Theater Tsukiji Shōgekijō and was a founding member of Bungaku-za in 1937 . From then on, she was not only the leading actress in this group, but also the leading personality of the "New Theater" (新劇; Shigeki).
Her most popular role was that of Nunobiki Kei in Morimoto Kaoru's 1945 play "The Life of a Woman" (女 の 一生, Onna no isshō). She toured Japan with the play and played the role in several new productions. In 1953, she was the first Blanche DuBois in the Japanese premiere of Tennessee Williams ' Endstation Sehnsucht . In addition, she appeared in her almost 70-year career in more than 100 film and television productions under directors such as Ozu Yasujirō and Kobayashi Masaki .
