Sujin Jinayon

Sujin Jinayon ( Thai : ศาสตราจารย์ ดร. สุ จินต์ จิ นาย น ; RTGS : Suchin Chinayon ; born April 12, 1935 in Bangkok , Thailand ) is a Thai geneticist and has been President of Naresuan University in Phitsanulok since the beginning of 2009 .

After attending the Assumption School, Sujin went to Kasetsart University and then studied with a government scholarship in the USA. He received his bachelor's degree (B. Sc.) From the University of California and then studied plant genetics at Iowa State University . He did his doctorate there with a thesis on plant breeding.

After returning to Thailand, Sujin taught at Kasetsart University and did research on varieties of corn . He received awards for the variety Su-wan 1 (later further developed to Su-wan 2, 3 and 5), which is specially adapted to the conditions in Southeast Asia and other Asian countries. Sujin later became the dean of the Natural Resource Faculty at Songkhla Nakharin University .

In 1992, Sujin became president of Naresuan University for the first time, which had become an independent university in 1990. He supervised the development of suitable curricula in the individual faculties while a large part of the university moved to the new campus outside the center of Phitsanulok, which is still occupied today. After two periods as President of Naresuan University, he went to Yonok University and Mae Fa Luang University as a consultant . Before he returned to Phitsanulok in 2009, he was a member of numerous advisory boards at universities in Thailand.
