Sulaiman Masomi (* 1979 in Kabul ) is an Afghan-German author , rapper and poetry slam interpreter.

Masomi was born in Kabul in 1979 and grew up in Krefeld. He has a master's degree in general literature, media studies and cultural anthropology at the University of Paderborn . There he founded the open-stage reading stage Lyriker Lounge . So far he has performed more than 1000 appearances in the entire German-speaking region. After the success of his book “Ein Kanake sucht Rot”, the Goethe-Institut sent him to Cairo, Mexico City, San Francisco , Riga and Jerusalem.

In 2009 his first live CD was published with the title: “Always follow your nose” ( Lektora , Paderborn) and in 2012 his scientific work “Poetry Slam - An oral culture between tradition and modernity”. In 2013 he became the state champion of North Rhine-Westphalia at the NRW Slam Poetry Slam in Essen . Since 2017 he has been a member of the jury for the national competition of the Berliner Festspiele. In 2018 he won the great executioner's ax in Passau . In 2019 he received the Herborn Schlumpeweck . In 2020 he was awarded the Minden Stickleback Prize.

Masomi currently lives and works in Cologne. Masomi raps in the hip-hop formation last row and is a member of the Dortmund reading stage LMBN .
