NRW Slam

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The North Rhine-Westphalian Poetry Slam championships, which have been held annually since 2008, are called the NRW Slam . The NRW championship is the largest in the German-speaking area and one of the largest poetry competitions in the state.

history

As a rule, around forty poets qualify at the local level for the two- to three-day festival, with the best moving into the final on the following day. In addition, only slam poets who are or were resident in North Rhine-Westphalia and who do not participate in any other state slam championship in the same year are eligible to start. Similar to the national Poetry Slam championships , for which the winner of the NRW Slam qualifies, the host and the venue are determined two years in advance as part of a Slam Masters meeting . All slam organizers in the federal state (so-called “ slam masters ”) are entitled to vote .

The record winner with three titles is Torsten Sträter from Waltrop . He shares the most frequent finals (four times) with Marian Heuser , Michael Goehre and Björn Gögge .

Since 2015, the U20 championships have also been held separately at the U20 competition , in 2012 in Paderborn they were held once together with the over 20 championships.

In 2014 and 2016, the final of the NRW Slam was broadcast live online on WDR .
