Jason Bartsch (born November 4, 1994 in Solingen ) is a German lyric poet, slam poet , musician and presenter.

Life and artistic creation

Stage literature

In the poetry slam , Bartsch celebrated his first major success with his spoken word texts in 2013, when he reached the final of the first independent German-speaking U20 championships in Kiel. This was followed by numerous victories in regional slams, participation in championships and, after finishing second in the previous year in Mönchengladbach with Sandra Da Vina's victory , in 2015 he won the North Rhine-Westphalian state championships ( NRW Slam ) in Münster . In the following year he was co-host of the state championships in Bochum and moderated the final together with Sebastian 23 in the sold-out Schauspielhaus Bochum .

In 2014 he worked under the direction of Lars Ruppel and Robbie Q. Telfer on behalf of the American Institute in a literary exchange project called "Wort.Word.Lich". Their full-length program took up the German-American relationship. Marco von Damghan and Fatima Moumouni were also involved in the project .

He is a permanent member of the regular slam reading stages " Infinite number of monkeys " (with Theresa Hahl , Sebastian 23 , Jan Philipp Zymny and DJ Jean-Jacques Plastique ) in Bochum and " The Baby is optional " (with Henrike Klehr , Johannes Floehr and Yannick Stone waiter ) in Oberhausen .

In 2017 he goes on tour with his first program called "Merriment as a Right to Leisure Time".

Bartsch now moderates numerous literary events in Hamburg and the Ruhr area.

Printed literature

In 2012 he received the Postpoetry Prize in the Young Poets category , he regularly participates in the Young Authors' Meetings and is a two-time prize winner there (2013 & 2015). In 2015 he was awarded the young talent award of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in the literature category. His prose and poetry have been printed in various anthologies. In 2015 his text "Sentences on Planks" appeared in the Yearbook of Poetry . He is editor of the anthology " Inkfresh 2" ( Lektora-Verlag ), in which contributions by young slam poets are collected.

Bartsch was the singer and guitarist of the Dortmund postpunk band Empire Years , founded in 2012 , the other members are Aaron Beer and Adrian Busch. In the year they were founded, the trio released the EP "Cave Man", followed by "Come Alive" in 2014 . In the summer of 2016, Bartsch's first solo CD followed, " You look far too seldom in the eyes and think it's okay like that ".

Others

His poetry clip " Some Problems ", realized together with Patrick Praschma , took part in the 2016 Zebra Poetry Film Festival in Münster in the " Best Poetry Film" category . In 2016 he brought his live radio play " Songs for the Dead " to the stage, with Sebastian 23 , Andy Strauss and Jule Weber as speakers. Bartsch is a freelance writer for the music magazine spex .
