Jule Weber

Jule Weber (* 1993 in Bensheim ) is a German poetry slammer , lyricist and author.

Life

In 2009 Jule Weber attended a poetry slam workshop by Alex Dreppec and Lars Ruppel and won the workshop's final slam . Since then she has appeared in the entire German-speaking area and is one of the most active and successful poets here. In 2013 she was the youngest participant in the competition at the final of the largest regular German-language slam in Hamburg in front of 2,000 spectators in the Laeiszhalle . In addition, she now gives slam workshops herself and moderates and organizes literary events in the Hessian region, such as the “Krone Slam” in Darmstadt. She also appears on jazz slams with her poetry and prose .

In 2012 she won the U20 title at the “Hessenslam” at the Hessian slam state championships in Giessen . In the same year , the ninth German-language Poetry Slam championships in Heidelberg also won the U20 title against international competition. At these championships the U20 competition was integrated into the competition of the "big ones" for the last time, since 2013 the U20 championships have been a separate, multi-day literature festival. In 2014 Weber received the 2nd prize at the Literature Prize of the Nuremberg Culture Shops, and in the jury's statement her "expressive, talented lyric cycle" was praised. In May 2017 she won the Rhineland-Palatinate state championship in the poetry slam in Mainz.

In 2019 she will receive the "Tully Award". The special award from the Irish whiskey distillery Tullamore DEW specifically honors and supports exceptional poets with format and unmistakable style. The winner will be chosen by the participants of the Poetry Slam championships, who choose their favorite in advance when registering. Thus the "Tully Award" is a deep bow of the scene to the winner, who pays her her respect in this way. 

Jule Weber works and lives in Bochum. She is the mother of a daughter she was pregnant with when she was sixteen.
