Sven Hensel (born July 22, 1995 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a German slam poet , presenter and short film director .

Life

Hensel has been performing at poetry slams in German-speaking countries since 2014 and is one of the busiest poets on the scene. His texts often deal with social problems (such as everyday sexism) or take up Hensel's everyday life in a lyrical or prosaic way. He won the U20 slam championships in Bochum in 2015 and was in the final of the so-called NRW slam at the state level in 2014 (in Mönchengladbach ), 2016 (in Bochum) and 2017 (in Siegen) . He also took part in various national championships. In 2015 he was in the final at U20 level (in Regensburg ), in 2017 he reached the final of the German-language slam championships at the Hanover Opera House together with Kim Catrin as the "Parkpunk" slam team . Hensel also appears as an organizer and moderator; he is a Slam Master in Kleve , Hamm and Dortmund, among others . In Trier he moderated a queer slam as part of the "Homosella-Queer- und Kulturtage" . In Essen he is a member of the regular reading stage Schall und Smoker .

In 2017, Lektora-Verlag published his text collection Auf Haus , in the same year he was one of the editors of Ink Fresh III , a text collection with contributions from young authors from the poetry slam scene. In July 2018 he was awarded the Young Poets Prize at the 21st Walder Theatertage.

In 2017 he made his directorial debut with the short film Cruising , which artistically deals with fast, anonymous sex among homosexuals (see Cruising ). The short film was viewed over two million times on YouTube and received a lot of attention from the queer scene.

He is studying German and comparative literature at the Ruhr University in Bochum .
