Executioner's ax

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Scharfrichterbeil (proper spelling ScharfrichterBeil , until 1999 Scharfrichter-Beil ) is a cabaret prize that has been awarded to young cabaret artists since 1983 as part of the Passau Cabaret Days (Scharfrichtertage), a festival for theater, cabaret, music and cabaret.

The award is donated by the Scharfrichterhaus in Passau , Bayerischer Rundfunk and the Munich evening newspaper . The participants will not be nominated, but can apply with a CV and demo video / DVD. A jury then makes the pre-selection from among the applicants. The winners are selected by a jury consisting of representatives of the executioners' house and the media as well as the audience. In addition to prize money of € 1000, the winner receives a hand-forged, sharp, man-high hatchet and is allowed to perform in the Munich Fraunhofer Theater . Since the executioner's ax enjoys a national reputation, it is very popular with young cabaret artists as a stepping stone for their careers.
