Sulcorebutia tarijensis is a species of plant in the genus Sulcorebutia from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Sulcorebutia tarijensis grows solitary or sprouting with dark green bodies. These reach a diameter of 3 to 5 centimeters and have a strong beet root. The 10 to 16 ribs are arranged in a spiral. The elongated areoles on it are yellowish. A central spine is missing. The 8 to 12 radial spines are arranged like a comb, lie against the body and are 5 to 15 millimeters long.

The red to dark red (sometimes a yellow throat), rarely yellow or purple flowers are up to 2.5 to 4 inches long and have a diameter of 3.5 to 4.5 inches. The fruits are brownish green and 4 to 6 millimeters in diameter.

Distribution and systematics

Sulcorebutia tarijensis is widespread in the Bolivian Department of Tarija . The first description was published in 1978 by Friedrich Ritter . Weingartia tarijensis F.H. Brandt is a synonym .
