Suleiman Bilali

Suleiman Wanjau Bilali (born June 5 , 1976 ) is a Kenyan amateur boxer in light flyweight (up to 48 kg). Bilali has represented Kenya in numerous international tournaments.

Career

At the 2000 Olympic Games , he was eliminated from the Spaniard Rafael Lozano at 10:11 in the quarterfinals. Two years later, at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester , he lost early to Ali Qamar from India . He had his first major success when he won the All Africa Games in 2003 . After that, he fell into a form low and did not take part in either the 2004 Olympic Games or the 2006 Commonwealth Games .

In 2007 he came back, won the All African Games with a final victory over Manyo Plange and then qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games by moving into the quarter-finals of the 2007 World Boxing Championships in Chicago .

Suleiman Bilali is the younger brother of Olympic bronze medalist Ibrahim Bilali .
