Manyo Plange

Manyo Plange (born January 18, 1988 ) is a Ghanaian boxer in the light flyweight class (up to 48 kg). He won the silver medal at the All Africa Games in 2007 and took part in the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Career

Plange played his first international men's competition at the Commonwealth Games in 2006 , when he advanced to the second round of the tournament, but then lost to a Welsh boxer. At the All Africa Games 2007 he even made it to the finals, but had to admit defeat to the much more experienced Suleiman Bilali . At the World Championships in Chicago in the same year , he competed in the flyweight class (up to 51 kg), but lost in the first fight against the Chinese Yang Bo .

At the first African Olympic qualification tournament in Algiers , he returned to the light flyweight division. He won against Thomas Essomba , then lost in the semifinals to the Namibian Jafet Uutoni , but was able to prevail in the fight for third place against the Algerian Hamoud Boubraouet , whereby he secured qualification for the 2008 Summer Olympics . There he defeated the Filipino Harry Tañamor in the first round and then retired from Brazil after losing to Paulo Carvalho .
