The right to occupy the parish Diepolz was a fief of the Kempten monastery . In the beginning, the parish of Knottenried had to deliver the taxes and bailiff's interest to the Weingarten monastery.

After an eventful history, both parishes have been vicarious since December 1960 (Diepolz) and January 1961 (Knottenried) by the pastor from Missen. Since September 1998, both parishes - like Missen himself - have been looked after by the pastor of the Stein parish community.
