Sulmgau

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sulmgau was a medieval Gaugrafschaft that the field of Sulm in the north of present-day Baden-Wuerttemberg included. The main town of the district was probably Neckarsulm ( villa sulmana ).

In 778 the area around Neckarsulm was first mentioned as Sulmanachgowe in a deed of donation from Charlemagne to Lorsch Abbey.
