The Sultan Iskandar Reservoir ( Malay Takungan Air Sultan Iskandar or Empangan Sultan Iskandar for dam ) is a reservoir east of the provincial capital Johor Bahru in the state of Johor in the south of the Malay Peninsula . The lake is about 5 km long and 2.5 km wide and has many branches. It is fed by several small rivers that flow into long tributaries and drains via the Sungai Layang into the Sungai Johor . The reservoir is named after Mahmud Iskandar Ismail , the 8th King of Malaysia .
